Scouting Report:
Addison Cooley made her RISE debut at the Michigan Preseason Preview on March 3rd at Capital City Kingdom Training Center in Lansing, MI. A 5’10” 170lb toolsy player,  was a “Top Performer” in four measurable categories (Home to 1st, Home to Home, Exit Velocity, Outfield Velocity). Addison’s quick first step out of the box allowed her to showcase a 2.93 home to 1st, and a 11.84 home to home time. At the plate, Addison’s lower half strength and explosive hip turn allow her short bat path to be strong at contact. An up-the-middle hitter, Addison recorded a 67mph exit velocity. In the field, Addison showed an over-the-top arm action that produces good back spin and carry on her ball. Addison has plus footwork both at the corner infield and outfield positions, where she consistently squares her shoulders for a strong accurate throw. Her outfield velocity was measured at 55mph. A true student of the game, Addison projects to be a middle of the order run producer and a base stealing threat.
Recently RISE Softball was able to catch up with Addison for a brief Q & A:
RISE: Where are you at in the recruiting process?
Addison: I will never breathe, sleep, or eat thoughts of recruitment. I am just a High school softball player who has a true passion for the sport. Success on field has initiated comments about possible recruitment. I’ve gone to a Rise Softball Camp and plan to attend softball camps this summer.
RISE: Intended college major?
Addison: Undecided, I enjoy interacting with others and learning more about health. I am leaning towards the Health Field or Human Services.
RISE: Dream Job?
Addison: Sports and Fitness Nutritionist
RISE: Do you play any other sports?
Addison: Basketball and volleyball. I enjoyed soccer and track as while, but was unable to pursue them due to the conflict of seasons.
RISE: What/who inspires you?
Addison: As a little girl, I would constantly listen to my families sports stories. I wanted to experience the feeling of winning a championship with the teammates I love beside me. Secondly, being blessed with skilled teammates allowed me to compete from a young age on.
RISE: In only 3 words, describe yourself?
Addison: Passionate, Industrious, and sincere.
RISE: Favorite softball moment?
Addison: Winning the SVL district championship, my sophomore year, was my favorite softball moment. When the ump called the last out, tears started rolling, knowing that the hard work truly paid off.
RISE: Favorite sport to watch?
Addison: I’ve always loved football season. Friday night lights, school spirit, big crowd, hearing the band, and celebrating with classmates. I take pride in supporting my school and love the intensity of football.
RISE: Name something that softball has given you that nobody, including yourself, could ever imagine?
Addison: Softball has taught me life lessons, allowed me to meet new people, gave me an escape from reality, showed me what dedication is but most of all I learned adversity. The experiences with adversity on the ball field carried itself over to reality too. Adversity gifted me a moral compass from a young age. For example, it allowed me to push through the tough assignments and tough study hours to keep that A, where other students may of given up.
